My Mom always told me to wear an outfit that does something for you. And what that means is to wear something that highlights your best features. For example, if you are like me, you consider yourself to be short and curvy, you might want to wear tops with a v-neck in order to lengthen your torso and possibly show off some cleavage. In these photos I am wearing a typical Saturday-night outfit. My outfit includes a v-neck body suit to lengthen my body and highlight some of my assets. I paired it with a leather jacket to tone it down, and high-waisted black jeans and heeled booties for a slimming effect.
Wearing clothes that are fashionable, but not flattering to your body only does a disservice to yourself, your body, and the people around you. If you are deciding on what to wear you should always ask yourself one question, “What does this garment do for me?”
The next time you are shopping for clothes, shop with this mindset. If it does something for you, then it will make you feel confident and sexy. You won’t have to question it. If it doesn’t, you will most likely feel insecure or be filled with doubt. I don’t know about you, but I would rather feel good about myself than wear something because it’s trendy. My two cents for any woman out there is to gravitate towards wearing trends that are right for you – there is nothing more sexy than a confident and stylish woman!
If you’re looking to make a statement or dress like an icon, do it in a way where people will comment on how good YOU look not how good your outfit looks. Every woman is different and some trends may be right for you while others are not. Just because one trend doesn’t look good on you, it doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you.

I love this post! It’s so true that what makes you feel the best is the right trend for you. I sometimes have a hard time to find clothes that make me feel great. I am tall with a boxy frame. This whole loose, flowy trend for summer does not work for my body. It makes me look bigger in all the wrong places. Do you have any suggestions on how to flatter an athletic build?
Thanks!

Hi Lilyana! Thank you for your kind words! That’s a great question. For girls that may be tall with an athletic build here are a coupe different tips:
-wear dresses or skirts that have cinched or pinned in waistlines/mid section this helps create the illusion of an extremely feminine looking waistline. If it isn’t already pinned in, you can always try a belt, especially for those dresses that are loose and flow!
-wear sleeves: personally I have athletic arms so I like to wear dresses or tops that have sleeves (short or long) on them and if I do wear a spaghetti strap or tank top I like to wear a cardigan, jacket, blazer or something else so I don’t have to worry about how my arms look. I do tend towards v-neck tops because I have broad shoulders and that also helps to elongate my torso and makes me feel more feminine 🙂
-wear delicate heels (I know sounds super vague). Avoid chunky type shoes that cut you off at your ankle, the simple shoes will elongate your legs and make them look killer! (T-strap sandals are key)
I hope this helps!!

I agree seems like most clothes are cut to fit “everyone” (no one). I think it’s a cost saver for the clothes manufactures so they can appeal to a lot of different body types. The only good thing about the flowy, loose cut stuff is when you are having one of “those days”, you feel more comfortable! BTW… you are gorgeous, I bet you look great in everything!!!

So true! I agree – if it is one of “those days” or I just ate a burrito you bet I’m wearing something more loose and flowy. Thank you so much! 😊
